Through the Eyes of Justice
Duration:
2 hours
Justitia regnorum fundamentum
Justice as the foundation of all authority.
This is inscribed in gold letters on a mighty city gate.
Throughout history, this foundation has often proved to be crumbling; at times, it has been completely eroded.
Vienna’s squares and monuments have witnessed pillories, executions, torture and honour-punishments, fire and expulsions, but also the Enlightenment, reforms, humanism and the birth of our democratic constitutional state.
Like a fascinating history book, the city centre unfolds before us. Leaf through its pages in the company of a former judge.
From Stephansplatz to the Palace of Justice – a walk that is well worth taking!
Small groups on weekdays for an additional payment: high above the rooftops of Vienna, enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Parliament, the Chancellery and the residence of Austria’s president, stretching far beyond the city, whilst sipping sparkling wine and enjoying a snack.
